Privacy at Picksy
Picksy is built so two people can find something to watch without either of them giving up much. Here's exactly what that means.
No signup
When you create or join a link, Picksy makes an anonymous account on this device. There's no email, password or phone number unless you choose to add an email to keep your picks across devices.
What we store
- The first name or nickname you give us (optional).
- Your region and the streaming services you pick — never your streaming logins.
- Your swipes, saves, “seen it” answers and private star ratings.
- A taste profile built from those, so future decks fit you better.
- Sessions you were in, the titles you matched on, and watch progress.
- Basic usage events (like “link shared” or “match”) with no titles or names attached.
What your partner can see
- Your name, whether you're online in the session, and how many cards you've swiped.
- Titles you both said yes to, and their watch status.
- Whether you've rated a shared pick — never the stars.
They never see what you passed on, saved, or marked as seen, your services, your taste, or who else you pick with.
Invite links
Each Watch Link carries a long random token; we store only a one-way hash of it. Links close after a day with no swiping, and a session holds two people at most. Link previews in chat apps never show names or what you're in the mood for.
Delete or download
In settings you can download everything we hold about you as a file, or delete it all for good. If you delete, your partners keep shared picks without your name.
Who processes data
Picksy runs on Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (database and sign-in). Film and TV data and images come from TMDB; streaming availability comes from JustWatch via TMDB. Picksy uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. We don't sell data or show ads.
